Quick question: does the requirement seem too easy or too hard? In other words, am I crazy to think somebody that could play 'Heart of the Sunrise' and 'Cinema Show' would be bored also playing something simple like 'Abacab' and 'Against All Odds'? Or vice versa? Or is it just no one so far is into any of the music? Or when you see 'Progressive' are you thinking more of 'Progressive Metal' or a general harder sounding style. any feedback would be useful...thanks in advance.

Prog Rock band seeks talented drummer to play (primarily) the music of Yes and Genesis - both old and new(er). Other bands include Pink Floyd, Gabriel, Collins, Crimson, Kansas, etc.
Looking for someone who loves the playing of Bruford and Collins, more than the heavier sounds of Rush, Dream Theater, etc. Also need to be able to play simpler stuff like the later 'poppier' material like Abacab, 90125, Collins, etc.

hey thanks for writing. I appreciate the feedback. We figure there's a risk in the material. Certainly not as popular as playing the latest hits. For what it's worth, there are a few prog rock bands (at least 3) playing out - one of them does it steadily. So there's some interest in this music. I think the bigger problem is the people who do like it are older and less likely to go to clubs.
The idea for us then is to mix it up with the 'poppier' or more well known songs of Peter Gabriel. Phil Collins, Tull, Floyd, Kansas... long shot i know... wish me luck!
Honestly...as a guitarist, those songs are a blast to "conquer" but I honestly think peeps think it's probably a waste of time putting so much effort into learning those tunes do to the fact there's no way on Gods green earth that there's money to be made by playing them out. I used to have a bunch of Howe songs figured out but after a while, I moved on to more of a commercial "metal" type of playing...Halen, Ozzy, Alice in Chains, etc... seems that the clubs are hiring 80's-90's type bands at the mo'!...just my 2 cents. I'm getting pretty good responses in my quest to start a metal band...+ it's a lot of fun to play!
