This is a surprise. Web classifieds have usually yielded around 3 replies over a six month period.
I'm sorry, guys....I should have qualified my post by saying I would only have to consider an already formed band.
I spent the past 4 years trying to start a band from scratch. I did mangage to have a drummer that stuck with me through most of that time but it was nothing but one disappointment after another trying to find a bass and a singer to at least form a core band. Better luck selling snowballs to an eskimo.

Marty, I checked out your music. If you don't mind my thoughts, I found the music akin to stuff I listened to back in nyc on area college/indie stations in new jersey such as wfmu. Quirky, offbeat, a bit bizzare. I have a spot in my heart for that stuff. I imagined while listening to your music that it would really be served if you were able to get some sort of quirky/ offbeat style vocalist with lyrics to put with it. Sometimes people percieve a different reality of what they hear in their music compared to others on the outside. I hope my comments don't offend....they're my opinion.

Ron, see above. Unless you have a complete band, it would be pointless, unfortunately. I would just be repeating what I already went through.

Artie, I'm not really keen on blues and r&b...funk, yeah, but in the progressive/fusion vein as opposed to "party" funk which I think you might be coming from. You'd most likely be well served to find an already established band doing that kind of music. You'd be able to write your own ticket and make some decent cash on top of it. Not that I'm telling anyone what to do or anything...just a friendly suggestion.

Thanks

Here's another bite........................I'm a trumpet player looking to play again after spending 25 years playing professionally and then laying off due to life's many reasons. I've played funk, big band, shows, club dates etc. I'm looking to play my favorite which is blues/r&b/funk.

Hi,

I am a few listings down from you (post: Looking to start a band) , I do play music, not sure if I breathe, but at 46, I think so.  I've been in practice mode for the last 4 years and would like to hook up with other serious musicians to put together a band and ultimately gig.   I too have had poor experiences with bulletin board musicians in the past,  I've put together a sampling of my music, you can hear it at www.jupitersun.altpro.net   this way you have at least some gauge of where my skills are. I like to write music and am flexible if it gets me an opportunity to play music with others.   I play rythm / lead guitars, out of necessity play alot of bass guitar (I like bass its cool).  I have a BC Rich Beast guitar which is itching to play in a club somewhere.

Regards,

Marty           mhoulroyd@yahoo.com

Hello, lookie what I found..... a long island musicians internet classified website! Groovy.
Be that as it may, I'm 50 and have a pretty much extremely wide ranging eclectic musical taste and playing interests. Anything from weird alien spacial ten dimensional landscapes to balls to the wall kick ass hard rock to fusionistic stylings and contemporary jazz sounds.
So here's my hook in the water with a little squiggly worm dangling off the end to see if anyone bites. If you do, however, I must warn you...unless the only things you do in life is: 1) Breathe and 2) play music, please to not waste my time. Nothing personal, just too many years of dealing with flakes and time wasters.
Thank You. ;)
