Don't listen to that last reply by Trotsky. He has been burned more than once for good reason. He is a putz.

Anyway, I live in Nassau, play keys, I am 45. Can you send me anything to listen to so I can be somewhat prepared or would you prefer me to come down and play off the cuff? Influences: Zappa, Zepplin, Dead, Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Incubus and way too may others. As long as the drums are solid and the bass is confident it should be cool.

P.S. I'm not a dick, in case I sounded like one.

Sorry. These threads die pretty quick so I stopped paying attention to it a while ago. I just happen to scroll down and saw that there was another fairly recent response (well, 2 weeks ago)

Anyway, I'll give you a holler and see whats up.

To everyone else...we're still looking.

Howdy. Let me try an describe whats going on......
I'm a guitarist who has recently teamed up with a drummer and a bass player/singer/lyricist. We are all very into music and have some time to devote to it. We are also in the over 40 age group.

We all have extremely wide ranging musical tastes and influences.
While a 3 piece can be cool, and if we must we will, I (we) am more interested in putting together more of an ensemble in order to generate something original, energetic, textured, atmospheric and appealing.
Music with great melodies that touches upon aspects of hard rock, progressive, funk, fusion, jazz and pop. Pieces both with vocals and instrumentals.

What would really be great is for a person to come along and add their influences, musical ideas, collaborate and be a team player. This would be someone who can get by on keyboards (don't need super chops, but be somewhat competent) to add textures and create a sound that would complement and play off of the other instruments. It all depends what your skill level is. If chord pads is what you're good at...great, if you have some ability to play a lot of lines and melodies....even better.
Might make a good second project for those looking to do something else....just as long as you seriously have the time and focus.

We exist in and around the western suffolk area.

Is anyone one out there interested?

Dear Trotsky,

I just saw your response - a September entry - on LI Musicians Classified... and it made me smile.

I am a keyboard player - never played a wedding.... could improve on my Mozart... and my Doors solos - I would like to add that I think my Motif might be a tad better than most Casios.... and I get great satisfaction playing a good background for a great guitarist.

But for all of us keyboard players who have negatively impacted your music world - I apologize.

With such a name, I felt compelled to respond.

Hey man, this is long island....good luck with trying to get a keyboard player.
The only people who play keys are either trained pianists who are self sufficent and don't need a band or are makin money doing weddings. The other ones are just dabblers who dick around with casios and aren't into playing because its not their main instrument.
Finally, all keyboardists are pissed at everybody because every band is guitar orientated and have always dissed them so they stay at home, read these ads, and laugh hysterically. Its truly diabolical. Well, good luck anyway. You're better off doing some kick ass power ****. Then when you play out and they come begging you to be in your band you can tell them.. "f*ck you, where were you when I needed you!"
